Safety
Our philosophy is to approach safety as if our lives
and livelihood depended on it. Building Solutions’
safety manual, policies and safety incentive programs
were written to encourage a safety cultural awareness
that conforms with the requirements of Federal, State
& local laws, with the Army Corps of Engineers EM-385-1,
OSHA 29CFR Part 1926, (construction) and OSHA 29 CFR
1910 (General Industry) standards. Building Solutions
strives to live up to the comprehensive intent of EM-385-1
and OSHA 29; which is to protect its client’s
human, capital and technological resources and that
of its employees, subcontractors and suppliers.
At BSI the responsibility for safety begins with the
President and weaves to each employee. Optimum productivity
can only be achieved through safe, well planned and
efficient operations.
BSI has implemented the following
objectives on projects
- Requires all superintendents attend OSHA 30 hour
training
- Requires all non-superintendents attend OSHA 10
hour training
- Safety Manager who is member of the AGC safety
committee
- BSI Safety recognition program
- BSI Safety committee comprised of personnel fulfilling
diverse functions
No OSHA citations have been issued on any BSI
project since the company was formed.
Quality Control
BSI ensures compliance with contract documents by creating
project specific quality control plans, reviewing submittals
prior to construction, suggesting changes, reviewing
“or-equal” product documentation, conducting
regular project visits to walk & document building
components, checking in place work for compliance with
drawings & specifications, and addressing any potential
quality issues, before they become a problem.
All BSI superintendents attend Contractor Quality Management
training through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or
NAVFAC. This provides familiarity with Quality Management
expectations and the Contractor Quality Control specification
in government construction contracts.
